Two new license plates available in Wisconsin

There are 53 different types of license plates in Wisconsin, ranging from common Collector plates and the three professional sports teams in the state to the less common Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation plates.

Two more were added to the list yesterday and those are Suicide Prevention and Spay, Neuter, Adopt.

Proceeds from the Suicide Prevention plate go to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, a non-profit organization that works to eliminate the loss of life from suicide by delivering innovative prevention programs, educating the public, raising funds for suicide research and programs, and reaching out to those who have lost someone to suicide.

Proceeds from the spay neuter plate will go to The Fix Is In, Inc. A non-profit organization that provides financial and logistical support for the spay/neuter of cats and dogs in Wisconsin.

Costs for the special plates include the normal Wisconsin registration fee, plus a $25 donation to the cause and a one-time $15 issuance fee. The DMV also says plates can be personalized for an additional $15.
