Two people from Cuba arrested with $48,000 worth of shoplifted merchandise in car

Racine County authorities responding to a shoplifting complaint over the weekend found two people in the middle of a huge shoplifting spree, almost entirely from Ulta Beauty stores.

On Saturday, officers were dispatched to the Ulta in Pleasant Prairie around 7:45 p.m. for a man that was shoplifting. Police located the man and the vehicle he was driving, and ultimately arrested him and a female with him, both from Cuba.

In the car police found 162 pairs of athletic shoes, 41 designer bags, 13 Adidas tracksuits, nine luggage sets and 332 bottles of cologne and perfume. The estimated retail value of the stolen property is $48,000.

The two are believed to be connected to thefts not only in Wisconsin, but across the country. They were transported to the Racine County jail where it was discovered one of the suspects already had a warrant for his removal from the U.S. through U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
