Two Separate Scams Take Nearly $20,000 From Local Women

Fond du Lac PD is again warning residents to be extremely cautious as two more sizeable scams were reported this week.

On two separate occasions, two separate female callers notified police that they were victims of online or phone scams.

One female had over $10,000 removed from her checking account online, while another female caller said she received a call from someone claiming her son was in a car crash, and was in trouble, and that needed $9500 sent overnight. The woman followed instructions, but had no idea who the male was, and was not able to make any further contact once the transaction was completed.

Police are reminding residents not to send money online, and not to give out personal or financial information online or over the phone.
