Two separate semi trailer incidents close Winnebago County Highways

Highway 45 northbound in Winnebago County needed to be closed for a period of time overnight, Tuesday, August 11, 2026, because of a semi fire.

Just after 1 a.m., the Town of Oshkosh Fire Department was called to Highway 45 in the area of County T for a semi that had a tire on fire on the trailer.

By the time the first sheriff’s deputy arrived, the fire had spread to the trailer, and when the first fire truck arrived on scene, they reported the trailer fully engulfed in flames.

Both northbound lanes were closed at Highway 41 until 2:47 while crews worked the scene. It wasn’t announced what, if anything was in the trailer.

Also in Winnebago County, the Southbound lanes of Highway 76, just north of I-41 north of Oshkosh needed to be closed while crews there delt with a semi tipped over on the roadway.

While it was unknown what was in the trailer of the semi, an officer on scene stated it was fully loaded.

The incident occurred at 8:40 a.m. The driver of the semi wasn’t injured and all lanes of the highway were reopened at 1:38 p.m.
