U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Offers Free Boat Safety Inspections

The Fond du Lac U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 0954701 wants to remind boaters that Wisconsin State Law requires all battery terminals be covered, including the ground posts.

Local US Coast Guard Auxiliary Vessel Examiners have noticed a recent trend, finding many boats failing to meet this requirement.

The group is encouraging Wisconsin boaters to sign up for a free boat safety inspection through the coast guard axillary. With the inspection, certified examiners will help to ensure your boat meets ALL required state and federal regulations.

A safety decal is awarded to every boat that successfully passes inspection. For boats that don’t pass, the owner is given the information needed to comply with the requirements.

This is an educational opportunity. There are no consequences or enforcement action taken by the US Coast Guard Auxiliary with this safety check. However, should you fail a law enforcement inspection out on the water, the Coast Guard says fines can and will be issued.
