US 151 and WIS 55 construction begins Monday with full closure of highway segment in Calumet County

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region reminds motorists US 151 and WIS 55 construction begins Monday, August 18, 2025, in Calumet County. This is a two-year project with a winter shutdown beginning in November 2025. Portions of WIS 55 and US 151 will have road closures and detours during construction and open to traffic during winter shutdown.

Location

Improvements will take place on eight structures along US 151 and WIS 55 between the south county line to the north village limits of Stockbridge in Calumet County, Wisconsin

Traffic impacts

Work will be conducted under a full roadway closure and through traffic will be detoured.

  • Access to properties, businesses, homes and first responders will be maintained during construction.
  • US 151 will be closed and detoured beginning on Monday, August 18 to mid-November 2025.
    • Detour uses County HHH and County C
  • WIS 55 (work on structures north of County E) will be closed and detoured beginning on Monday, August 18 to mid-November 2025.
    • Detour uses County E, WIS 32/57, to WIS 114
  • WIS 55 (work on structures south of County E) will close in 2026.
    • Detour uses US 151, WIS 32/57, to County E

Project improvements

This project will remove deteriorating culverts and structures and replace them with new structures. The new structures will help properly drain water from the roadway surface and decrease future maintenance costs.

  • Structures consist of one pipe culvert, six box culverts, and one new bridge structure.
  • Replace existing guardrail within the limits of the culvert replacements.
