USA Patriots Amputee Softball Team softball camp underway

The USA Patriots Amputee Softball Team week long softball camp gets started today in Fond du Lac.

The team, which is comprised of veterans having sustained limb loss while serving in our nation’s military, travels the country each year spreading the message of hope and perseverance after tragedy.

Each year the group hosts a weeklong softball camp for 8 to12-year-old children from across the country with limb loss or limb difference, and this year, Fond du Lac was chosen as the camp location.

The camp activities will be centered around Fond du Lac’s Plamore Park July 9th-12th. The park features a new softball field that is made to be all inclusive for those with disabilities with features such as a field with no raised surfaces to impede mobility devices.

The group says The week isn’t just about softball. USA Patriots team members serve as coaches and mentors to help campers build self-confidence and independence while also gaining a new support network.

The week concludes with two softball games at the Dock Spiders Stadium/Herr-Baker Field on Saturday, July 13th. Gates open at 11 with game times at 11:30 and 1. The event is free to attend
