USDA announces huge recall of ready to eat foods

The USDA says nearly 10 million pounds of products, including items like pre-made salad kits, frozen dinners and ready to eat meats are subject to a recall.

On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, it was announced items produced by the BrucePac food company in Durant, Oklahoma, produced from June 19, to Oct. 8, and shipped to distributors nationwide have been recalled due to a possible listeria contamination..

The USDA says the recall includes more than 300 items from many popular brands sold at major retailers including 7-Eleven, Walmart, Target, Kroger and Meijer.

The recall covers numerous items sold under popular brands such as Dole, Marketside, Atkins, Great Value, and others.

The products subject to recall have establishment numbers “51205 or P-51205” inside or under the USDA mark of inspection.

So far, there have been no confirmed reports of illness.

The problem was discovered after officials performed routine testing of the meat and identified BrucePac chicken as the source.

Restaurants and individuals are urged not to serve or use these products. They should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
