UW Oshkosh Fond du Lac Campus To Cut Out In Person Classes

UW Oshkosh Fond du Lac campus will soon be no more… at least as far as in person classrooms go. This is according to a press release issued by the UW system today.

The Fond du Lac campus is one of two campuses that will soon end in-person instruction and transition to all on-line courses. The other Campus closing in person teaching is the UW Milwaukee Washington County campus located in West Bend.

Additionally, UW-Platteville Richland will be closed.

The time frame of the campus closings is planned for mid year 2024.

UW President Jay Rothman said freshman enrollment has been rising at most of the four-year campuses while enrollment at the two-year campuses has been falling at a rapid rate for years. Rothman also stated online enrollment has been increasing. The decision he says is based on trends, not as a cost savings measure. The decision comes only one day after 140 UW employees were laid off to help relieve an $18 million budget deficit for the 2023 year.

Existing students attending the campuses where in-person learning will be no longer available will be offered enrollment options at other universities.
