Van Dyne child seriously hurt after being struck by vehicle

A six-year-old Van Dyne girl received serious injuries when she was struck by a vehicle yesterday evening.

Just after 5 PM, the Fond du Lac County Communications Center took a call that a child was hit by a vehicle driven by a 20-year-old man from Van Dyne on Townline Road, near Lincoln Road.

The Eldorado and North Fond du Lac Fire Departments, Eldorado First Responders and North Fond du Lac Ambulance as well as Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputies and Wisconsin State Patrol Troopers were all dispatched to the scene.

Initial reports were that the girl was not conscious or breathing but after CPR was performed by a bystander, the girl became conscious and was reported as crying. Due to the nature of the injuries, ThedaStar medical helicopter was called to transport the child to Childrens Hospital of Milwaukee.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating the incident.
