Variances Granted For Hampton Inn And Grande Cheese Projects
Fond du Lac’s Board of Appeals this week granted variances to height requirements for two projects. City Principal Planner Joellyn Dahlin says a new Hampton’s Inn and corporate headquarters for Grand Cheese will both be three-story buildings. She says the Hampton Inn variance was granted with some restrictions for signage and lighting. It will be a 73 room hotel. In 2007 a similar project was proposed for an Amerinn that never materialized. She says construction will start soon in the spring with the hotel opening in the spring of 2015. Meanwhile Grande Cheese will be moving its corporate headquarters from Lomira to Fond du Lac. The Grande Cheese project will also include a research and development center. The Hampton Inn project will also require a special use permit, which will go before the Plan Commission for a recommendation on February 17th.
