Vehicle fire shuts down I-41 in Outagamie County

A truck fire in Outagamie county Thursday afternoon, May 7, 2026, stopped traffic on I-41 southbound near the Wrightstown Road exit.

Just before 1:30 p.m., reports of a pick-up truck on fire started to come in to the Outagamie County Dispatch Center. Outagamie County Sheriff’s Deputies, Wisconsin State Patrol Troopers and Vandenbroek Fire Department responded to the location.

The Wrightstown Fire Department was also requested for mutual aid.

Upon arrival, crews found the truck fully involved in flames with several small explosions being seen on the DOT camera at the exit. Because of this, law enforcement shut down the south bound side of I-41 while crews tended to the scene.

The driver was reported to have exited the vehicle before the fire spread.

41 was reopened and the scene was cleared just before 3 pm.
