Vehicle stolen from Fond du Lac overnight involved in pursuit and crash in Oshkosh
A vehicle stolen from Fond du Lac was involved in a pursuit and crash in Oshkosh overnight.
Just before 2 a.m., an Oshkosh Police Officer came upon a vehicle doing donuts in the Oshkosh North High School parking lot. When the officer attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle, the driver accelerated in an attempt to elude the officer.
The driver went south on Vinland and then crashed near the intersection of Vinland and Murdock Streets.
At that point the driver took off on foot eastbound from the crash scene while a 17-year-old female passenger stayed in the vehicle injured.
While an ambulance was dispatched for the passenger, police setup a perimeter around the area looking for the driver, who was reported to be a runaway from Fond du Lac County.
Investigation showed the plates on the vehicle listed to a Chevy Malibu out of Horicon, while the vehicle identification number listed to a person out of Beaver Dam.
The driver was unable to be found and further investigation showed the vehicle involved was stolen over night from a Fond du Lac residence.
Police are still investigating the incident and no other information has been released at this time.
