Vikings Win On Homecoming
Winnebago Lutheran kept their playoff hopes alive with a 33-18 Homecoming win over Kettle Moraine Lutheran on Saturday afternoon at Viking Field. KML jumped out to a 10-0 lead early in the 2nd quarter but then it was all Vikings. Senior QB Brandon Schilling scored on TD runs of 2 and 4 yards in a driving rain storm to give WLA the 12-10 lead at the half. Schilling scored on an 8 yard run with 3:09 left in the 3rd quarter to make it 19-10. Schilling made it 26-10 with a 7 yard run with 10:51 left in the 4th quarter. KML didn’t go away as AJ Guhl returned the ensuing kickoff 73 yards for a touchdown and with the two point conversion it was a one-possession game at 26-18. WLA’s Tim Anderson busted free for a 43 yard TD run at the 8:46 mark of the final quarter to put the game away. Anderson finished the day with 184 yards on 23 carries. Schilling had 89 yards to go along with his four TD day. Aaron Muche ran for 47 and Lucas Muche 37 in the win. The win improves WLA to 3-2 in the Flyway Conference. They will host North Fondy next Friday night. A win will put them in the postseason.
