Vossekuil Will Be Reconsidered

The Mayville City Council this week voted unanimously to reopen contract talks with Acting Police Chief Ryan Vossekuil. Last month the acting police chief rejected a contract offer from the city feeling the terms were not fair. Two weeks ago a citizens group presented the city’s Public Safety Committee with an online petition with over 800 signatures asking them to reconsider Vossekuil. The issue will be brought back before the city council next month. The vacancy was created when former Chief Chris MacNeill resigned in March amidst allegations that he altered documents in 2011 to get the son of a former Mayville police officer into the army.
