Wanted 22-Year-Old Appleton Man Captured In Fond du Lac County After Two High Speed Pursuits Overnight

A 22-year-old Appleton man led Fond du Lac County Authorities on two separate high speed pursuits early Wednesday morning, June 28, 2023.

Just before 2:30 AM, the sheriff’s office received word from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office that a stolen vehicle was traveling southbound on Interstate 41 nearing Fond du Lac County.

A deputy with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle on 41 near Lone Elm Road driving without it’s headlights on. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle and a pursuit ensued after the driver of the stolen vehicle increased speeds to 130 mph and disregarded the deputy.

The suspect exited at OO and continued traveling westbound. The suspect traveled through the intersection of OO and County I, traveling onto the dead-end of Coyne Road. The suspect was able to turn around and continue eastbound on OO.

The suspect turned southbound onto Rolling Meadows Drive entering the Fond du Lac city limits, so it was decided to terminate the pursuit for the safety of residence in the city.

Deputies believed the suspect would return to travel his original route on 41 and were able to locate the suspect vehicle on 41 near Hickory Street where a second pursuit ensued.

The driver exited onto Highway 151 southbound and then onto County Highway D, traveling south to County Highway B.

Deputies were in position with tire deflation devices on B, and in seeing this, the driver turned south onto north Barton Road, which was another dead end. The suspect drove
to the end of north Barton Road and crashed at the dead end. The driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, was taken into custody without further incident.

He had two active warrants for his arrest through Winnebago County, a warrant through Probation and Parole, and a warrant through Green Lake County. The suspect is currently on probation for 1st degree recklessly endangering safety. Further investigation of the pursuit found that the suspect had discarded a firearm from the vehicle on Coyne Road while being pursued. He was booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail for two counts of Felony Eluding, recklessly endangering safety, felon in possession of a firearm, and operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent. Both pursuits spanned an area of almost 21 miles.
