Waupun Has A New Mayor

First District Alderwoman Julie Nickel was appointed Waupun’s new mayor this week. Last month Mayor Kyle Clark resigned for health reasons. Nickel and former alderman Steve Bastian were the only two people who submitted their names for the appointment. Bastian dropped his name from consideration. Nickel says they have to give their children reasons for wanting to live and work in the City after they graduate from school. She says they have to invest in the City to make it marketable. She says Mayor Clark was active in the community and she wants to do the same. She says Clark volunteered in and around the community and was always around listening and giving to others. Next April the City will hold an election for mayor to fill the remaining year of Clark’s term. Nickel was sworn in as mayor during the Common Council’s meeting. The Council also appointed Jason Westphal to fill Nickel’s seat on the Council.
