Waupun Mayor declares disaster due to flooding throughout the city

At 7:50 p.m. on June 22, 2024, Mayor Rohn Bishop issued a Disaster Declaration due to significant rainfall and flooding across the city.

Most streets within the City of Waupun have varying degrees of flooding with road closure. Motorists are asked to stay off the streets and people are advised to avoid areas with standing water. Vehicles passing through standing water have been causing additional flooding to homes in badly affected areas.

Department of Public Works crews are working to barricade roads. Motorists that ignore barricades and choose to drive through standing water may be ticketed.

It is recommended to check basement sump pumps and move valuables to higher storage.

Those experiencing damage are advised to take pictures and contact their insurance company to report damage.

Additional updates will be provided as information becomes available.
