The area saw it’s first snowfall yesterday and coming during the busy morning commute, law enforcement had their hands full.
Only 4 inches fell but that was enough to send dozens of vehicles into the ditch including numerous semis that jackknifed or drove into ditches and one even drove out into a field. Two semis jackknifed on I-41 blocking lanes of traffic. One was near Hickory Road and the other was near County Y. There was also reports of two school busses having issues. One in the New Holstein School District got stuck on the road while one near Waupun drove into the ditch.
Numerous crashes were also reported but as of now, no serious injuries have been reported.
In total the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office took 126 weather related calls yesterday. By early afternoon the snow was already starting to melt as temperatures rose above the freezing mark. The remainder of the snow should be gone by today as the temperature is forecasted to stay above freezing.
