What January has to offer on average for the month climatologically
Its the start of January so we’ll take a look at what the month climatologically has to offer the Fond du Lac area.
Even though daylight hours are now increasing, our daily temperatures will continue to fall, at least until the end of the month when they start to rebound VERY slightly. We start with an average high of 27 on the first and that drops to 25 by mid month and then creeps up to 25.5 by the 31st.
Daily lows start with an average low on the first being 14 degrees, before leveling off at 10 degrees by months end.
The record high for Fond du Lac in January came on Jan 9th of 1939 when it reached 57 degrees. Contrast that with the coldest temperature which came on January 30th of 1951 when it dropped all the way down to -41 degrees.
On average, January sees 10.5 inches of snow but in 1918 we saw 35 inches fall. The daily record for a January snowfall was set on the 4th in 1982 when 12 inches fell.
