WIAA says no more transgender females competing in women’s sports

The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA), has released a statement saying they’re updating their policy regarding student-athlete eligibility – affirming its compliance with federal directives that only students designated as females at birth will be allowed to participate in girls sports.

They say the board updated this policy to ensure clarity is provided to area schools as they work to comply with new federal guidance from the White House.

The change taken by the WIAA Board of Control is said to be similar in nature to actions taken in recent days by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in their sports department.

In the past few years, controversy has arisen after men, who say they transitioned to women, have competed in women’s sports, and won over the naturally born women competing, in some cases breaking records set by women.

On February 5th, President Trump signed an executive order prohibiting transgender women and girls from competing in female sports.
