Winnebago County Board Launches Committee Structure Task Force (Audio)

Winnebago County Board Member Jacob Floam joins KFIZ Today to talk about launching the Committee Structure Task Force.

Here is more information about its first meeting:

The Winnebago County Board’s Task Force on Committee Structure has scheduled its first meeting for Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 6 p.m. in room 120 of the County
Administration Building located at 112 Otter Avenue in Oshkosh. This comes after five county board supervisors – Jacob Floam, Maribeth Gabert, Conley Hanson, Brian Defferding, and Paul Eisen – were formally appointed to the task force by Chairman Thomas Egan on March 21st. The Winnebago County Board currently has twelve standing committees, three additional supervisory boards, and one steering committee. The goal of this new task force is to examine committee rightsizing options for the county board.

As it begins to evaluate options, the task force will address the following questions:

● How many committees should the county board have?
● What committee structure is best for implementing policy on a timely basis while maximizing community input?
● What do other Wisconsin counties do, and what are their success stories?

Prior to the end of 2023, the task force plans to report its findings to the Judiciary and Public Safety Committee. Any changes in the committee structure of the Winnebago County Board are likely to come into effect at the beginning of the 2024 term.
