Winter Driving Recommendations
Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s and Highway Department officials ask drivers to keep several things in mind while they are driving in adverse weather this winter. Highway Commissioner Tom Janke says it is best to give snowplow drivers room to do their jobs, especially at intersections where they could end up backing up. Sheriff’s Captain Ryan Waldschmidt says if you do get in an accident during snowy weather try to get your vehicle off the road and if you run off the road stay with your vehicle while you call for help. He also says to put your lights or hazard lights on. He also urges people to plan to take more time to get to your destination if conditions are bad. He also suggests clearing you vehicle’s windshields of ice and snow before you go. (Ripon Police Dept photo).
