Winter storm warning issued for much of area

***UPDATE*** The remaining six counties in south east Wisconsin have been added to the winter storm warning.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for much of southern Wisconsin to go into effect Tuesday, January 9 at 6 AM. A winter weather advisory will be in effect starting tonight at 9 PM until the warning starts tomorrow morning.

Snow is expected to start late tonight with 1-3 inches falling overnight with another 3-6 inches falling tomorrow during the day.

Winds up to 40 mph could gust tomorrow causing considerable blowing and drifting of snow, especially in rural areas. The National Weather Service is saying travel is not recommended during the warning period, but if you must travel, have emergency supplies like food, water, flashlights and blankets with you in your car should you get stranded.
