Wisconsin 2022 Tornado Count Slightly Higher Than Normal

The National Weather Service in Wisconsin has released its final tornado count for the state in 2022.
It says that a rare October outbreak of tornadoes pushed the total to 28 for the year. 5 over the yearly average of 23.
On October 12th, 7 tornadoes were reported during a round of thunderstorms that passed through southeast Wisconsin. The highest amount of tornadoes that have been documented in Wisconsin during a single day in October including one in Milwaukee County. The first in the county in 22 years.
The 28 tornadoes occurred on 7 different days in March, May, June, July and October.
The largest outbreak in the state this year took place on June 15th when 13 tornadoes touched down west and north of the Green Bay area.

The biggest and longest lasting tornado in the state occurred during the June 15th outbreak when an EF2 travelled 22.5 miles through Monroe and Juneau Counties.
None of the tornadoes caused any reported injuries and there were no reported tornadoes in Fond du Lac or neighboring counties in 2022.
