Wisconsin Attorney General Kaul Asking For Funding To Add 16 Crime Lab Analysts
On the heels of Fond du Lac District Attorney Eric Toney critisizing State Attorney General Josh Kaul of taking too long to get state crime lab evidence analyzed, Kaul is asking for additional funding to staff 16 new State Crime Lab positions.
Kaul said it’s a fairly simple answer to rising demands in the crime lab, adding, these are critical positions, not just to crime labs but to public safety in Wisconsin.
Recently Toney had to resort to getting a judge to demand results of blood toxicology testing to be done after the sample has been sitting in the lab for a month, possibly delaying a vehicular homicide case in Fond du Lac County.
Toney Says “It’s unsettling to the state for the lab to have the evidence for over a month without an analyst having been assigned to begin the testing of the defendant’s blood.
During the state Attorney General’s race last fall, Toney repeatedly criticized Kaul for crime lab delays.
