Wisconsin has first recorded February tornado

A supercell, or strong thunderstorm with a long lasting rotating updraft, has spawned Wisconsin’s first ever recorded February tornado.

The National Weather Service confirmed that multiple tornadoes have been spotted Thursday, February 8, 2024 just south and west of Madison near the cities of Albany in Green County, Evansville in Rock County, and a funnel cloud near Fort Atkinson in Jefferson County.

These all were spawned from the same storm so it is possible it is a long tracked tornado. The National Weather Service will do a storm damage survey tomorrow to determine if it was a continuous tornado, or multiple tornadoes.

As of 6:30 PM the storm is still tornado warned and moving northeast at 45 mph.
