Woodworth Middle School again closed due to earlier fire

Due to the fire at Woodworth Middle School overnight Tuesday, May 12, 2026, the school had decided to again call off classes Thursday. School officials are not expecting to be back in the school this week, however have arranged for Friday’s classes to take place at Marion University. Parents of students were told they would receive information today on where to bring students Friday.

Just before 1 a.m. Wednesday, The Fond du Lac County Communications Center received notification that a fire alarm was activated at the school, located at 101 Morningside Drive.

Fire crews made entry into the building, and found smoke in the art room.

Upon closer inspection, they located an active fire in the kiln room adjacent to the main art classroom. The fire was brought under control within about five minutes; however, the kiln room sustained significant fire damage.
