Wrong-way driver kills man on I-41 Tuesday

A wrong way driver on I-41 in Outagamie County caused a fatal crash Tuesday, November 5, 2024, that closed the southbound lanes there for several hours.

At 10:20 PM officers were dispatched to the area around Grand Chute for the wrong way driver. Minutes later they took a report of a crash near Lyndale Drive.

First officers on scene reported one person in each vehicle with one being killed and the other conscious but trapped in the wreckage.

According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, a 77-year-old woman from Hortonville was driving north in the southbound lanes and struck a vehicle head on driven by a 27-year-old Neenah man. The man was reported to be the one killed in the crash. The highway was reopened at 2:45 this morning.
