15 OWI arrests in Fond du Lac County during campaign

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office recently held a Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign where a total of 732 traffic stops were conducted by the Sheriff’s Office.

The traffic stops resulted in 249 citations and 314 warnings. While the focus of the campaign was to discourage drunken driving, deputies also issued 77 citations for speeding and 64 citations for operating after suspension/revocation.

A total of 15 OWI arrests were made which included: 12 1st time Offenders, with one having a minor in the vehicle, and one each 2nd and 3rd time offenders.

The sheriff’s office says that operating while impaired could mean driving under the influence of alcohol, prescription medication or other drugs, and that while this was a targeted campaign, it’s a problem they take seriously throughout the year.
