7-Year-Old Fond du Lac Child Struck By Vehicle Friday Has Died

The child that was struck by a vehicle on Friday evening, June 23, 2023, on Pioneer Road has died from their injuries according to the Fond du Lac Police Department.

The City of Fond du Lac Police Department along with the Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue responded to a call of a 7-year-old child struck by a vehicle around 6:20 PM Friday in the
500 block of east Pioneer Road.

Initial investigation into the crash revealed that the child was attempting to cross Pioneer Road when he was stuck by a vehicle that was traveling westbound Pioneer Road.

The child was transported to Children’s Hospital-Milwaukee by Theda Star Medical Helicopter with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle, a 53-year-old
Fond du Lac resident, received no injuries from the accident.

Police say the accident is still under investigation.

The Fond du Lac School District will have counselors available to assist any students who may need help processing this tragedy from 10:00 a.m. – noon Monday, June 26 at
Pier Elementary School. The boy that was struck had just finished 1st grade this year at Pier.
