Brown County to open county run campgrounds early to accommodate NFL Draft visitors to the area

Last week EAA officials announced they would open their camping grounds for the NFL Draft in April. Well now Brown County officials have announced they also would open county run campgrounds early to accommodate some of the estimated 250,000 people that would be in town for the event.

On Wednesday night, the Brown County Board of Supervisors approved a plan to open campgrounds early for draft attendees and charge $100 per night with a three-night minimum. A price they came up with after considering water, electric, trash and recycling collection and staff time.

But some on the board say they could charge more, based on what other campgrounds in the area are charging, to which county board member Dan Theno said they didn’t want to price gouge people visiting the county and that $100 was the price they came up with based on what operating costs looked like.

The ability to make a reservation has not been provided yet. The NFL Draft takes place April 24th through the 26th.
