Driver flown from Fond du Lac County crash with serious injuries

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s office is investigating a one vehicle rollover crash that occurred overnight, Thursday, September 26, 2024.

Just after 1 AM, the communications center received a call that there was a crash on County I near Marsh Road in the town of Eldorado. Upon arrival, officers found a single vehicle crash with the car out in a cornfield fully engulfed in flames. A quick search of the area around the vehicle located an unconscious person. Eldorado Fire, and North Fond du Lac Ambulance as well as state patrol were called to the scene.

Due to the seriousness of the injuries, the person was flown by ThedaStar medical helicopter to ThedaCare Medical Complex in Neenah.

Investigation into the crash shows the 35-year-old Oakfield man was driving north on I when he lost control and left the roadway, striking a a power pole and rolling the vehicle into the cornfield.
Speed and operating while intoxicated are believed to be factors in the crash and the investigation is ongoing by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
