I-41 construction to close lanes in Fond du Lac and Winnebago Counties starting this October and lasting about a year

A new construction project has been announced for the I-41 corridor in Fond du Lac and Winnebago County that will begin later this month, and last into next year.

The improvements will take place on a 14 mile stretch of I-41 between County D in Fond du Lac County and Highway 26 in Winnebago County. Work to be done will include

asphalt milling and paving,
structure maintenance on ten bridges,
construction of a new box culvert,
nine box culvert extensions,
culvert pipe work,
slope grading,
restoration,
beam guard replacement,
cable guard replacement,
shouldering,
and pavement marking.

Most of the work is planned during off peak and overnight hours and should only close one lane at a time, keeping the interstate open during construction, however complete closures of roads going over the interstate may occur during bridge maintenance work. KFIZ will alert to those closures when possible

Construction begins Monday, October 21,2024, and is expected to finish in October of 2025
