Weekly Fond du Lac construction update

The City of Fond du Lac is providing a weekly update on construction projects located within the corporate boundary.

All anticipated construction activities are weather dependent.

Lakeside Park Pedestrian Bridge Replacement – Oven to Fountain Island

Schedule: September 16 through November 15, 2024

Description: Construction includes removal of the existing wood bridge structure, pouring new concrete abutments and setting a new steel truss bridge. Site grading, restoration and asphalt pedestrian path will be replaced.

October 14 to October 18: The bridge abutments are poured, finished and backfilled. Crews will complete the riprap along the front face of the abutments and begin placing fill and grading for the park trail.

Traffic Impacts: The boat launch off E. Harbor View Dr. will be closed for boats to access Lake Winnebago from Sep. 16th through Nov. 2024

US 45 improvement in Fond du Lac County

Schedule: August 26th to Early November

Description of work: The work under this contract shall consist of asphalt paving, beam guard replacement, culvert replacement, pavement marking, and all incidental items.

October 14 to October 18: Lower layer of asphalt is completed on USH 45 to Elm Ave. The final layer of asphalt will start on the south end of the project working north.

Traffic impacts: US 45 is open to traffic. Work will be conducted under lane closures with flagging operations.

Rees Street – Main Street to Marquette Street

Schedule: April 2024 through October

Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting and restoration/landscaping.

October 14 to October 18: Restoration contractor will continue placing topsoil and seeding.

Traffic Impacts: Rees Street and Marquette Street are closed to through traffic. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs.

W. 9th Street – Bridge to Linden Street

Schedule: June 2024 through October

Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting and restoration/landscaping.

October 14 to October 18: Concrete contractor will begin working on remaining concrete at Bridge and Linden St.

Traffic Impacts: W. 9th Street is closed to through traffic. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades. Parking is not permitted on the street within the construction zone during working hours.

S Military Road – Superior Street to Hickory Street

Schedule: July 2024 through November

Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting and restoration/landscaping.

October 14 to October 18: Electrical contractor will continue installing conduit from Hickory intersection to RR mid-week. Concrete contractor will begin hand pouring sections of the Hickory intersection pavement. They will also begin fine grading for mainline pavement from RR to Hickory intersection.

Traffic Impacts: S Military Road is closed to through traffic. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades.

Bragg Street – Bell Street to Warner Street

Schedule: July 2024 through November

Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting and restoration/landscaping.

October 14 to October 18: Excavation contractor will rough grade terraces ahead of terrace restoration.

Traffic Impacts: Bragg Street is closed to through traffic. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades.

Henning Street – Military Rd to Dead End

Schedule: July 2024 through November

Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting and restoration/landscaping.

October 14 to October 18: Excavation contractor will rough grade terraces ahead of terrace restoration.

Traffic Impacts: Henning Street is closed to through traffic. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades.

Franklin Street – N. Hickory Street to Henry Street

Schedule: August 2024 through November

Description: The project includes water main and lateral reconnections, roadway, and restoration/landscaping.

October 14 to October 18: Excavation contractor will excavate and place base. Concrete contractor will pour pavement and curb sections.

Traffic Impacts: Franklin Street is closed to through traffic. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades. Parking is not permitted on the street within the construction zone during working hours.
