PHOTOS: Christmas morning criminal take down involves car and foot chase and crash in Fond du Lac

Law enforcement weren’t taking Christmas off Wednesday, December 25, 2024 when they were staking out a northside neighborhood for a known wanted suspect.

At approximately 08:30 a.m., the Fond du Lac County Communications Center received a report indicating that the suspect had physically abused a female victim, threatened her life, and taken her handgun. The suspect, a convicted violent felon, has previously been known to carry weapons.

At 11:30 AM, the suspect’s vehicle was seen leaving the area of Washington Street and Scott Street. An officer followed the suspect until more officers were in the area. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle on Arndt Street near Doty Street, the suspect accelerated in an attempt to get away.

The suspect ran the stop sign at Main Street and then again at Park Avenue where he crashed into two other vehicles, injuring three people.

After the crash, the suspect took off running southeast and was captured a short time later in the 200 block of east Follet Street.

After the suspect was taken into custody, a police K9 was being used to track the suspects route to see if he had thrown anything.

A handgun was recovered from the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect was transported to the Fond du Lac County Jail and faces multiple criminal charges in addition to the warrants already issued for his arrest.

The City of Fond du Lac Police Department was assisted by the City of Fond du Lac Fire Rescue and Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
