Sabre men’s basketball drops first home game of season

Marian University men’s basketball team (11-2, 4-2 NACC) faced their first home defeat of the season, falling 75-64 to Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW). The Sabres started strong, scoring the first six points of the game and maintaining the lead for most of the opening half. They built their lead to as much as seven points, but the game took a dramatic turn in the final seconds of the first half.

Junior Brandon Adorno’s layup in the final moments of the half brought the score to a 33-33 tie at halftime. The second half saw intense back-and-forth action, with Marian pulling ahead 47-45 after senior Eli Vogel sank a pair of free throws. However, the momentum shifted when the Falcons scored nine consecutive points, establishing a seven-point lead with 9:15 remaining on the clock.

Concordia Wisconsin continued to dominate, extending their lead to as many as 12 points before the game concluded with a final score of 75-65. Despite Marian’s strong start and efforts to regain control, CUW’s late-game surge secured their victory in this thrilling contest.
