90 ducks found dead in Little Chute pond – Avian Flu could be cause

DNR officials are looking into what may have caused the deaths of 90 mallard ducks in a pond in Little Chute in Outagamie County.

The cities department of public works learned of the dead birds through a social media post and with the help of DNR officials, removed them from the pond.

The small residential pond at the corner of North Avenue and Buchanan Street is said to have a warm water outlet into that pond which keeps it free of ice for much of the winter. Because of this its a usual hang out spot for water fowl.

DNR officials took samples from several of the birds before they were disposed of in a nearby landfill and stated that the scene looked similar to other cases found nearby where Avian Bird Flu was responsible for other bird deaths.
