Fond du Lac Police cruiser struck responding to hit and run call in Downtown Fond du Lac

No injuries were reported in a series of incidents that were linked together Wednesday night, February 26, 2025, in downtown Fond du Lac.
The trouble started around 7 PM when a vehicle crashed into a business on the corner of Portland and First Streets. Fond du Lac Police and Fire arrived on scene to find minor damage to the vehicle and building but realized two of the vehicles occupants had fled the scene.

While police canvassed the area, a call came in saying a person was threatening to jump from the Portland Street parking structure and that this person may be related to the hit and run that just occurred. Police and an ambulance responded to the parking ramp and found the two people on the sidewalk out in front of the ramp on Portland Street.
While emergency personnel tended to the two, another officer that was responding to the scene had his cruiser struck by another vehicle at the intersection of Division and Portland. It appeared no injuries were reported in the crash but KFIZ was on the scene and stated the impact to the passenger side of the squad was hard enough to activate the squad’s airbags.
No official release has been issued from the police department but KFIZ will update this story with any other information that may come in from the police department.
