Eden man’s death in crash ruled homicide – Fond du Lac man charged

On Friday, March 28, 2025, at approximately 7:08 p.m. the City of Fond du Lac Police Department responded to a fatal collision involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle in the 600 block of South Main Street.
From the onset of the collision Fond du Lac Police Department Officers and Detectives worked tirelessly assessing evidence and conducting interviews. Based on the evidence collected at the scene, witness statements, and the ongoing investigation, Fond du Lac Police Department investigators believe that the driver of the passenger vehicle intentionally swerved into the path of the motorcyclist, causing the motorcycle to crash into the driver’s side of the vehicle. Tragically, the 26-year-old motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Fond du Lac Police Department has remained in close contact with the family throughout this heartbreaking tragedy. With deep empathy and at the request of his loving parents affectionally known as “Ma & Pa” to Eli, we share that the motorcyclist who tragically lost his life is Elijah “Eli” Nathaniel Sowin (26-years-old).
Chief Aaron Goldstein stated, “This was not an accident, but a deliberate and dangerous act that led directly to the death of a young man from our greater Fond du Lac community. Reckless driving, especially actions intended to harm or endanger others will not be tolerated. This tragedy could have been avoided. We are dedicated to ensuring that those responsible for crimes that endanger public safety are held accountable for their actions. Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time.”
The investigation into the events surrounding this fatal crash resulted in the arrest of Mark W. Snider (D.O.B. 04/11/1957). Snider is being held at the Fond du Lac County Jail on the charges of First-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety (Use of a Dangerous Weapon – vehicle) and Second-Degree Reckless Homicide.
