Mercury Marine Employees Build Beds for Local Children in Need and Donate Truck to Sleep in Heavenly Peace

More than 80 Mercury Marine employees recently volunteered their time to build 40 beds for children in need. The effort was part of a partnership with the Fond du Lac chapter ofSleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP), a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that no child sleeps on the floor. Marine volunteers gathered on the company’s Fond du Lac campus to sand, assemble, and stain bed components that will be delivered to children ages 3 to 17 who currently lack a proper place to sleep.

In addition to the employee volunteer effort, Mercury Marine also donated a truck to the local SHP chapter. The vehicle will serve as a vital resource to help transport bed components and pull SHP’s trailer for future delivery events. “Our employees never hesitate to step up when it comes to supporting our community,” said Andres Gonzales, Vice President of Human Resources at Mercury Marine. “It’s incredibly rewarding to see so many team members dedicate their time to help ensure local children have a safe, comfortable place to sleep.”

The Fond du Lac SHP chapter, launched in 2021, has already delivered over 1,000 beds to children across the region—and the need continues to grow. “The donation of this truck willreally help our chapter,” said Tom Otte, Chapter President of Sleep in Heavenly Peace – Fond du Lac. “It means we can be more efficient in delivering beds to families and expand our impact in the community. We are incredibly grateful for Mercury Marine’s ongoing support.”
