It’s giving Tuesday… What’s that mean?

Today is giving Tuesday, which is an annual generosity movement that takes place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, encouraging people to give back to their communities.

Giving Tuesday is meant as a follow-up to Black Friday and Cyber Monday as a means to give to the community after buying for your loved ones. A day to support charities, nonprofits, and community causes through donations or volunteering.

As part of Giving Tuesday, the American Red Cross is asking those who can to make a financial donation or to give back through volunteering. Another way they are asking for help is for you to make an appointment to give blood or platelets.

The organization says in 2025, over 400 volunteers and employees responded to disasters within Wisconsin and $1.1 million in financial assistance was distributed in 2025 to hundreds of Wisconsin households recovering from disasters.

For more information, you can visit the organization’s website at redcross.org.

The Fond du Lac Area Transit will be getting into the Giving Tuesday spirit from 11am to 1pm as a way to say thank you to the Fond du Lac community for riding and supporting the transit system. Staff will be meeting the public and giving away insulated grocery bags at the transfer zone located at the corner of Rees and Macy Street.
