Record number of people to travel this holiday season

AAA is projecting that nearly 1 1/4 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from their home between December 20 and January 1. That would be a 2.2% increase over last year.

AAA says 89% of travelers will be driving, with the busiest day to be on the road expected to be Saturday, December 20.

The group says a little over eight million people will be flying to their holiday destinations this year with domestic flights being 7% more expensive this year, averaging around $900 per roundtrip ticket.
