49-year-old strikes State Patrol cruiser – gets arrested for 5th OWI

A Green Bay man spent the first day of 2026 in jail after he struck a Wisconsin State Patrol cruiser while he was driving.

The incident happened only 1 hour into 2026 when at 1:04 a.m. the 49-year-old deviated from his lane into the area where the trooper was parked.

The damage wasn’t enough to disable the cruiser so the trooper was able to go after the driver who was stopped a short time later on I-41 at state highway 29 in Brown County.

The trooper observed signs of impairment, and following further investigation, the driver was arrested for Operating While Impaired.

The driver, Jonathon Jeske, is being held in the Brown County jail for what would be his 5th offense of driving under the influence. Jeske also faces additional charges in the incident, including Battery to Law Enforcement, Resisting an Officer, and Hit and Run of an Occupied Vehicle.
