Fond du Lac woman facing charges in death of child

On December 5, 2025, at approximately 1:02 a.m., Officers with the Fond du Lac Police Department responded to SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital, located at 430 E. Division Street, following a report of a deceased 12-year-old child who had been transported to the Emergency Department.

From the outset, this incident was treated as a top investigative priority by the Fond du Lac Police Department. FDLPD Detectives and Officers conducted a comprehensive and exhaustive investigation, working diligently to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and collaborate with multiple partner agencies to ensure every aspect of this tragic incident was thoroughly examined.

As a result of this extensive investigation, on January 23, 2026, at approximately 1:45 p.m., FDLPD Officers arrested a 51-year-old female Fond du Lac resident on a charge of Child Neglect Causing Death.  She is currently being held at the Fond du Lac County Jail.

Lieutenant Nicholas Hahn stated: “This was an incredibly complex and heartbreaking case. Our team worked tirelessly to uncover the truth and ensure accountability. We remain committed to seeking justice for the victim and providing a measure of closure for the community.”

At this time, no additional information is being released pending the filing of formal charges in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court.
