Waupun Fire Department expands emergency medical service capabilities

The Waupun Fire Department has announced they’ve expanded their emergency medical service from Emergency Medical Responder to Emergency Medical Technician Basic which is Transport Capable.

This allows EMS responders to transport patients to the hospital when all other area ambulances are already on calls.

Waupun FD says In the past, these situations could result in patients waiting 30 or more minutes for an ambulance to become available or arrive from another community. This upgrade helps reduce those delays and strengthens the overall EMS system serving the City of Waupun.

The fire department adds the partnership with LifeStar EMS that serves Waupun remains at the heart of emergency medical public safety in the community. This change only enhances that partnership by ensuring additional coverage and system resiliency when resources are stretched.
