Dead-end hydrant flushing planned for Fond du Lac

The City of Fond du Lac Waterworks says they’ll will be flushing hydrants on dead end streets this week. This flushing will take place between the hours of 7:00am-3:00pm concluding on Friday.

The department says Dead end mains, typically in cul-de-sacs, at the end of a street, or even in a looped line are the areas the utility will be focusing on this week.

They say during hydrant flushing, residents may notice a slight discoloration of water, but this is temporary and poses no health risk, though you’re asked not do laundry or use automatic ice machines until the water runs clear from your tap. Once hydrant flushing has occurred, if customers encounter discolored water, pipes to individual homes can be flushed by running a cold water tap for about 10-15 minutes.

If you still experience problems with water quality or pressure after the flushing event, you should contact Fond du Lac Waterworks at 920-322-3680.
