Nighttime military training to continue with chances of more sonic booms
Residents in the area could hear more sonic booms in the coming days as the Madison based 115th Fighter Wing of the Wisconsin Air National Guard will be conducting more evening training flights Monday through Thursday, April 6-9.
Training flights typically take place during daylight hours, but pilots and maintenance personnel are required to conduct nighttime operations as part of overall readiness.
The National Guard said pilots will continue to follow flight paths designed to minimize noise, though despite these flight paths, a couple sonic booms were heard in surrounding counties in the last couple weeks after the F-35 aircraft broke the sound barrier during their training exercises.
