BREAKING NEWS: Officer involved shooting at Oshkosh Fleet Farm

On May 10th, 2026 at approximately 8:00 AM, Officers from the Oshkosh Police Department were dispatched to Fleet Farm, 177 N. Washburn Street, for an adult male who had a handgun. Once on scene, a uniformed Oshkosh Police officer encountered an adult male with a handgun and the officer discharged his weapon. The adult male was struck and quickly transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

There is no active threat to the community and no other suspect(s) are believed to be involved. 

Investigators with the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation are actively investigating this incident. The officer involved has been placed on paid administrative leave, per department policy.

A media staging area has been set up at United Rentals, 237 N Washburn Street in the City of Oshkosh where a representative from the Oshkosh Police Department will be available to give a further statement.
