Fond du Lac County Clerk Freiberg named as 2026 WCA Friend in County Government

The Wisconsin Counties Association (WCA) has named Fond du Lac County Clerk Lisa Freiberg the recipient of their 2026 Friend in County Government Award, recognizing her dedication to public service, her leadership in Fond du Lac County
and her commitment to the important work of administering elections and serving Wisconsin voters.

“Lisa Freiberg has dedicated herself to ensuring that the election process in Fond du Lac County is conducted with professionalism, accuracy and integrity,” said WCA President & CEO Mark D. O’Connell. “As county clerk, she works closely with
municipal clerks and county officials to help ensure that elections are run effectively and that voters have the information and resources they need to participate in the democratic process.”

The Friend in County Government Award is the highest honor presented by the Association. It is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service to county government in their official capacity.

“She represents the very best of county government and public service,” said O’Connell. “The work Lisa does to support fair, accurate and well-run elections is incredibly important to Fond du Lac County, as well as to the people of Wisconsin.

Her leadership and commitment to serving her community make her highly deserving of this award and we were so proud to present it to her.”

Lisa Freiberg also serves on the WCA Board of Directors, where she represents the Wisconsin County Clerks Association in that seat
